Scintilla Salon: The Stories that Shape Us

A super salon exploring whether the narratives that we're working from belong to a world that we're trying to leave behind, with Laura Hartley.

Date & Time

24 Jun 2026, 18:30 – 21:30

Treo House, Treo House, 1 Pickle Mews, London SW9 0FJ, UK

About

Are we trying to change the world without changing the stories that created it?

Climate action is the work of bridge-building between two worlds. The world as it is, with the complex reality of polycrisis, climate change and systems failure, and the world as it could be - the vision and possibility of a more just, loving and regenerative world.

This Salon asks the question: what if the stories that we're working from - about progress, about where change comes from, about what’s driving the crises - belong to the world we're trying to leave behind?

‘The fight against climate change’

Win the race to net zero’

‘We need to save the planet’

How are these connotations of violence, competition, haste and heroism influencing how we show up in climate action?

What might need to change in our beliefs, ideologies and cultural myths to help bring the world as it could be closer to reality?

The Scintilla Salon is a space to explore the narratives and assumptions that shape our world, over supper, alongside others working for climate action.

The evening will contain a short talk and provocation from Laura Hartley, founder of the Scintilla Centre, followed by food, conversation, and a chance to ask the deeper questions of the climate transition.

Supper

We have chefs on-site who make everything from scratch, focussing on seasonal and nutritious produce. Please note that there are no options for the supper. Our chefs prepare different recipes every time, it's guaranteed to be delicious. All food will be vegan, but please let us know in advance of any other dietary requirements.

Non-alcoholic drinks are included, alcohol will be available to purchase separately on the night.

About the facilitator

Laura Hartley is the founder and voice behind Scintilla, a wisdom centre for the work of remaking the world.  Her work focuses on the inner and cultural conditions required to move beyond extractive systems, including questions of imagination, meaning, and relational repair.
