OUR BEGINNING
GEMMA LANNON
FOUNDER & DIRECTOR

Treo House was born from personal experience. As an environmental scientist, I learnt to always ask ‘why?’. During my time in corporate sustainability, working on problems from climate change and pollution to malnutrition and mental wellbeing, I often found myself asking ‘but why are these problems arising in the first place?’. Of course this is the much harder question to address, but essential for a genuinely sustainable society. Whilst I don’t have all the answers myself, I do believe that between us, we have all of the wisdom, ideas and capabilities needed to create a future that we all actually want to live in.
To truly regenerate a system, we have to go about things very differently. This isn't an easy thing to do. It involves understanding and influencing systems, acknowledging uncomfortable contradictions and still moving forward, holding onto hope when it can feel impossible. This is why alongside it’s mission to build capabilities and responses to today's environmental and social challenges, the core goal of Treo House is to look after each other. It’s disconnection, individualism and competition that has got us into this mess, and only connection, collectivism and cooperation will get us out.
