OUR STORY
I started Treo House in September 2025, inspired by personal need. As an environmental scientist who started my career in corporate sustainability, I was deeply passionate about issues like climate change, nature loss and inequality. I was frustrated, worried and saddened that these problems seemed to be getting worse not better, and that many people working in sustainability were feeling drained, overwhelmed and disillusioned.
I felt that we needed to be more honest about the root causes of sustainability problems and try to go about things differently. Less individualism, competition and commercialisation, more collaboration, care and integrity. Focussing on creating what we want rather than fighting what is out of our control.
Treo House became an invitation to anyone who wanted to explore this. Thanks to contributions from many generous and intelligent people, most of whom I didn't know before, the organisation has continuously evolved and strengthened. In just one year we've learnt so much about how we can create organisations that are more democratic, enjoyable and impactful.
I'm sure there is a long and bumpy ride ahead. But personally, it feels much more manageable (even exciting!), as part of a solid community who are all in it together. Our door is open, come and get involved.
