About

Have you ever felt weighed down by the scale, complexity and urgency of today's sustainability challenges? Have you ever wondered if the problems are just too big to solve?

These are very human responses to the challenges we are facing today. When we spend all day working on issues like climate change, humanitarian crises or poverty, it is understandable to feel sad, overwhelmed or fearful for the future. For those of us who work in this field, it's important that we acknowledge our feelings and learn how to handle them, in order to remain happy, healthy and impactful.

This 90 minute workshop offers an open, reflective and exploratory space to better understand your feelings associated to your work in sustainability and learn different approaches to help manage them.

We’ll explore:

  • Emotions that can arise in response to environmental and social issues and what these emotions are trying to tell us.

  • How to meet difficult emotions without judgment.

  • How to handle catastrophising or disempowering thoughts.

  • Daily practices for self-care and nervous system regulation.

By the end of the session, you’ll come away with:

  • A clearer understanding of how your emotions and thought patterns arise in response to the state of the world.

  • New practices to help you respond to difficult feelings with more calm, clarity and care.

  • Ideas for how to protect and sustain your energy over the long term.

This is the second session in a 4-part Authenticity series led by Heather at Treo House, helping you explore how to create change in a more authentic way. You’re welcome to attend any of the sessions as a one-off or join the full series. You can see more about the other workshops below:

  3. Developing a kinder relationship to self

  4. Finding your unique contribution
